Dutch visual artist Bas Köhler has dedicated himself since the beginning of this century on making comics, commercials drawing and illustrations. After obtaining his master degree in urban planning at the University of Amsterdam he went to Barcelona (Spain) and studied comic and illustration at the Escola Joso. Back in Amsterdam he started StudioBasKohler.
He makes drawings for various Dutch books and magazines, for governments and companies. He also writes and draws comic stories published in various books, papers and magazines. Next to this narrative, commissioned work, he developed a diverse line of autonomous work in which he explores different principles and mechanism, varying from live drawing performances to big prints and drawings.
